The HMK Automation team is celebrating another success story amongst our workforce after Applications Engineer Nathan Jenks achieved a distinction in his studies.
Nathan has been studying for a HNC in Electrical and Electronic Technology at Staffordshire University alongside his day job.
Despite having to switch to remote learning due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Nathan passed the course with flying colours achieving a distinction.
Nathan, aged 24, joined HMK in 2019 and we have supported him to complete his studies, doing the university course one day per week.
He said: “I am really chuffed with my result. When I set out to start the HNC, I wanted to get the most out of the course as possible. I put a lot of time and effort into my assignments and exams, so to achieve a distinction feels great.
“Studying alongside my day job has been a massive benefit for both myself and HMK, as I’ve been gaining the academic knowledge at university and the practical experience at work and the two go hand-in-hand. It’s also helped increase my confidence both amongst my colleagues and with our customers.
“The support I’ve had from HMK has been brilliant, not only funding the course, but also giving me time, support and mentoring throughout and I’m very grateful of the opportunities HMK has given me since I joined the company.”
HMK runs a successful apprenticeship and training programme to ensure our workforce is equipped with the essential technical skills as well as practical experience.

HMK is now supporting Nathan to continue with his studies and complete the next level of the course – a HND in Electrical and Electronic Technology.
