HMK are very pleased to welcome Luke Creasey on board as a Graduate Engineer. Luke joined the company in August this year having completed a Master of Engineering degree in Automatic Control and Systems Engineering at the University of Sheffield.
Whilst at University, Luke's final year project was entitled "Traction control in a four wheel drive environment". The aim of the project was to design, develop and test a traction control system for an open differential four wheel drive powertrain, that utilised the brakes already fitted to a vehicle, rather than specific additional hardware. Many aspects of the project have parallels with Anti-lock Braking Systems (ABS) already fitted to cars.
The project involved CAD design and development of both electronic and mechanical components as well as building the electronics, writing software, and liaising with the manufacturer of the mechanical components.
Luke was shortlisted as one of three finalists in the prestigious Science, Engineering and Technology Student of the Year Awards which give recognition to the outstanding achievements of the under graduates and their universities. His category was The Bentley Motors Award for the Best Mechanical Engineering Student and was judged by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
